Miikka Rokkanen

I'm a Principal Economist in the Customer Behavior Analytics organization at Amazon, where I've worked since 2017 as a science leader and a force multiplier who improves and supports data-driven business decision-making across the company at a global scale. I was also appointed in 2024 as a Senior Fellow in Wharton AI & Analytics Initiative at The Wharton School, where my role is to teach, advice and mentor students as well as to facilitate corporate partnerships. Prior to joining Amazon, I was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Columbia University between 2014-2017. My academic research and teaching focused on econometrics and labor economics, with a particular emphasis on developing new econometric methods for causal inference. I received my PhD in Economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2014 and my BSc and MSc in Economics from University of Jyvaskyla (Finland) in 2008.
